HOW TO MAKE A TRUMPY KARDZ PROTEST SIGN
I made this double-sided protest sign for about $25. To make your own sign, follow these seven easy steps:
1. Print the image(s) you want. I went to a print shop and had them print these two images on standard 11" X 17" tabloid pieces of paper. Then they cut off the leftover border. Many shops can print images on even larger-sized paper. Since I designed the images as 2.5" X 3.5" cards, I was pleasantly surprised by how sharp the images look when printed at a much larger size.
2. Get some foam board (also known as foam core). I got one piece that was big enough for both images. Regular cardboard from a box could also work. But foam board is much more stable and holds up way better in wind.
3. Attach the image(s) to the board. I used a glue stick. Tape around the edges could work, but I prefer the "clean" look glue provides.
4. Cut the leftover board around the image(s). I used an X-Acto® knife for precision, but scissors might also work. Or you could leave the border on if you prefer the framed look.
5. Get a long, flat-edged stick. I used a yardstick so it goes all the way to the top of the sign, which keeps it stable. Plus there was enough stick left that I could hold the sign with both hands.
6. Attach the image(s) to the stick. I used adhesive-strip VELCRO® Brand hook and loop fasteners. Strong glue would work too. If you're making a double-sided sign, there will be space between the signs.
7. Wrap the stick underneath the images in grip tape. This makes it much more comfortable to carry around for long periods and prevents splinters.
